Last spring, our singers in the Seraphim and Arietta choirs sang at the Vancouver Kiwanis Choral Festival. Their recording from that festival was advanced to the Performing Arts BC competition and – the girls WON! This win advanced their recording further - as the representatives for British Columbia - to the National Music Festival in the Community Choir ages 12 and under Competition. We now have the results from the National Music Festival - the girls have been awarded 2nd place nationally!
Here is what the two judges said: “A fine choir with a very good sound developing. Final phrase is fantastic. Your phrasing is so sensitive and musical! Thank you for these musical performances!” and“A lovely ease to your singing. Good attention to word painting, nuances and shaping of phrases. A heartfelt performance.”
The competition was won by Ontario’s Bach’s Children’s Chorus – led by one of Fiona’s choral director friends, Charissa Bagan. Congratulations to the singers from Ontario – and to our own girls! BC Girls Choir's future is in the 'good hands' of our Junior singers!
