A Message from the BCGC Board and Staff
Dear BCGC families, friends, alumni, and supporters,
We would like to share that our beloved pianist extraordinaire, Eric Hominick, has made the decision to retire from his role with the British Columbia Girls Choir at the conclusion of this season, as he prepares to return to his home province of Nova Scotia.
Eric has been an integral part of BCGC for the past 25 years. During that time, he toured internationally with the choir, performed in countless concerts, festivals, and workshops, and played a central role in the organization’s artistic growth and success. His musicianship has shaped the sound of BCGC in enduring ways, and his presence has been felt far beyond the piano, as a mentor, collaborator, and steady guiding presence within the choir.
While many in our extended BCGC community know Eric well, we recognize that some may be less familiar with the full scope of his contributions. Eric will be formally honoured at our June concert, where we will have the opportunity to celebrate his extraordinary 25-year legacy.
While we are saddened by his departure, we are deeply grateful for all that Eric has given to our singers and to the choir. We invite you to join us in wishing him every happiness in the next chapter ahead.
Warm regards,
BCGC Board of Directors and Staff

A Message from Eric Hominick
I am tendering my resignation as BCGC‘s accompanist as of June 30, with plans to move back to my home province of Nova Scotia. I want to take this opportunity to express my sincerest and deepest thanks for your many years of kind friendship and support.
From the very beginning, when I came on board back in 2001, you have proved to me over and over again that the choral community is by far the warmest and friendliest of all. BCGC has been in so many ways a very special family and, having worked, toured and recorded with many different choirs from amateur to professional level over more than 50 years, I think that I can speak to that with some authority. You even warmly embraced my dear wife, Rose, who led the Cherubim level of the Choir for 11 years.
And what a wonderful 25 years it has been for me with you and your wonderful girls. I have toured the world, performed at international festivals, shared the stage with other world class choirs, made recordings, and survived Covid (as well as some very chilly Covid rehearsals, too!).
But all good things in this world must come to an end. My decision to leave the choir (and the province) is in part due to my dear wife’s passing. She had long been homesick for Nova Scotia, and we had begun discussing a move just a few years ago. All of my relatives live on the east coast, plus in-laws and old University and church friends, with no family in BC. In terms of BC Girls, it seems an ideal time for the choir to bring on board a new pianist who can work with and learn from Miss Cassie during this post-Covid time of rebuilding. Thus I can go without feeling that I am leaving you all in the lurch. You are after all in wonderful hands, and supported by an incredibly dedicated Board.
There have been many wonderful years, wonderful memories, and wonderful people. I have enjoyed a wonderful career with BC Girls, which will always, both singers and families alike, hold a special place in my thoughts, as I move on to other musical adventures in the Maritimes.
Fondly and Always,
Eric Hominick
