Artistic Leadership
Cassie Luftspring
Artistic DirectorCassie Luftspring is a versatile choral conductor, composer, soprano, and pianist. In addition to her position with BCGC, she is Artistic Director of Elektra, Vancouver’s internationally acclaimed adult treble voice choir. She has also held key positions with the Vancouver Youth Choir, Vancouver Children’s Choir, Toronto Children’s Chorus, and the Vancouver Academy of Music, among others.
As a professional soprano, Cassie led the soprano section of the Vancouver Bach Choir for several years, and has performed with ensembles including the Vancouver Chamber Choir and musica intima. Her compositions and arrangements have been widely commissioned and recognized with seven wins in the Amadeus Choir’s Songwriting Competition.
Cassie holds a Master of Music in choral conducting from the University of Toronto and a degree in piano and composition from Queen’s University. In 2025, she was awarded the King Charles III Coronation Medal for her contributions to Canadian music.
Karen Lee-Morlang
PianistAn award-winning performer, educator and producer, Karen Lee-Morlang has been lauded as “funny, brainy and creative.” After specializing in art song, opera and chamber music for her post-graduate degree from UBC, she then taught as a Sessional Lecturer at the UBC School of Music while continuing to study and perform in North America, Europe and Asia. Karen has been featured at MusicFest Vancouver, Vancouver International Jazz Festival, World Peace Forum, Women’s Worlds Conference, Vancouver Folk Festival and has been broadcast on CBC Radio.
Karen has enjoyed collaborating with local choirs such as Chor Leoni, Vivaldi Chamber Choir, St. Thomas More Collegiate Choirs, EnChor, Vancouver Welsh Men’s Choir and Summerchor. Karen has also directed recital and lecture series in collaboration with Vancouver Art Gallery, the UBC Main Library, the University Women’s Club, the Vancouver Opera and Vancouver Public Library. Previously Karen created and hosted a mini-series called “Nuts & Notes” on CBC Radio One as well as guest hosting on Westcoast Performance for CBC Radio Two.
In exploring her own voice while playing piano with other singers, Karen was a founding member of the vocal groups The Lady Larks, The K Sisters and The No Sh!t Shirleys. For the last 3 years, Karen has been enjoying her role as the Music Director at St. Francis-in-the-Wood Church. When not at the piano or computer, Karen takes great pleasure in pursuing other passions such as riding her motorcycle, boating, fishing, hiking, swimming, reading, sewing, fussing over her potted plants and learning to coordinate her lower limbs in the form of tap dancing.
Clara Salameh
General ManagerClara ensures the smooth day-to-day operations while bringing her love of choral music and her commitment to creating inspiring, inclusive spaces where young people can grow, collaborate, and find joy in their voices.
Nicole Wright
Director of OperationsNicole supports BC Girls Choir’s artistic and administrative teams, ensuring smooth operations and fostering a positive, inspiring environment for singers and staff. She provides steady, thoughtful leadership and continuity for the organization.
Sarah Henderson
Social Media Manager & SpringSing Rehearsal AssistantSarah Henderson combines her administrative skills with a creative flair, managing BCGC’s social media presence and helping showcase the choir’s programs, performances and community. She also serves as Rehearsal Assistant for our SpringSing program.
