Artistic Leadership

Cassie Luftspring
Artistic DirectorCassie Luftspring is a versatile choral conductor, composer, soprano, and pianist. In addition to her position with BCGC, she is the Director of Choral Studies at the Vancouver Academy of Music. She has held conducting positions with several other organizations, including the Vancouver Youth Choir, Vancouver Children’s Choir, Toronto Children’s Chorus, Cantabile Youth Singers of Silicon Valley, Pacifica Singers, Mississauga Festival Youth Singers, Cantabile Choirs of Kingston, and University of Toronto Women’s Chamber Choir and Men’s Chorus, among others. As a professional choral singer, Cassie is a soprano section leader with the Vancouver Bach Choir, and has performed with various local groups including the Vancouver Chamber Choir and musica intima, with Bay Area chamber choir Convivium, and with the University of Toronto Schola Cantorum. A seven-time winner of the Amadeus Choir’s Songwriting Competition, her compositions and arrangements have been commissioned and performed by ensembles throughout North America.
A recipient of numerous academic awards, including the Joseph-Armand Bombardier Canada Graduate Scholarship (SSHRC), Ontario Graduate Scholarship, and Fellowship in Music, Cassie holds a Master of Music degree in choral conducting from the University of Toronto, and a degree in piano and composition from Queen’s University.

Eric Hominick
Collaborative PianistEric Hominick, hailing from nova Scotia, studied piano with Reginald Godden at the Royal Conservatory of Music, and with William Tritt at Dalhousie University, where he also completed a voice degree. He was hired by Jon Washburn in 1983 as a singer in the Vancouver Chamber Choir, where he completed 11 seasons; and as pianist for his choirs at Vancouver Community College, where he has remained on staff as choral accompanist for over 40 years, also playing for their Pop Voice, Music Theatre and Classical Voice classes along the way. A former music faculty member at Douglas College (New Westminster) and the TOOBA Physical Theatre Centre, he has been a regular pianist for Elektra Women’s Choir (10 years), Vancouver Children’s Chorus (11 years), Vancouver’s SummerChor (15 years), two violin studios (15-25 years), and WCAMS Summer Music Camps. Eric is also a rehearsal and audition pianist for Vancouver Cantata Singers, an occasional pianist for Long & McQuade Summer Choral Reading Sessions, and remains in demand as rehearsal pianist for choirs in the Lower Mainland and occasional participant in BC Choral Federation and BC Music Educators’ Association events. On the lighter side, Eric has played a number of musical theatre shows and has been a church pianist for over half a century.
‘Mister H’ also teaches voice and piano, is an arranger, bass soloist, rehearsal/recital/show/incidental pianist comfortable in a wide range of musical styles, cruise ship entertainer, and more. He is delighted to have been founding pianist for BC Girls Choir under this name, and for two years previous.

General ManagerNicole Wright ensures the smooth day-to-day operations of the BC Girls Choir, bringing her organizational expertise and passion for music education to the forefront.
Sarah Henderson
Administrative Assistant & Social Media ManagerSarah Henderson combines her administrative skills with a creative flair, managing social media outreach and supporting the choir’s operational success.
